1) Pre-ride! I should have done this so there wouldn't be any surprises, but I wasn't able to. I have to schedule some time to do this for the next one. 2) Camelbak beats water bottles. The trail was littered with water bottles, most of them not even empty yet. The organizers didn't have to mark the trail with arrows. I just followed the water bottles. 3) I was riding a 2x9 setup for commuting to work. I should have taken the time to slash it back down to 1x9. My rig would have been lighter and I wouldn't have had to worry about derailing. 11,32 is good enough for me up to 20mph. 4) 100 road miles = 40 mtb trails. 5) Electrolytes! 6) If you're nervous, then it must be your first race. Just have fun and enjoy the ride. (thanks, Old Dawg) 7) If you crash, just get back up and dust yourself off. If you can still pedal, you're not injured. Blood leaking from your extremities is your body's way of telling you you're still alive, so keep going. 8) A cracked frame is your bike's way of telling you it can't keep up with your craziness and it's time to stop. 9) If you don't finish the race, then no adobo for you! Overall, I had a grand time. When is the next one? Feel free to add your own.

Hey Bong, did you get your I9 replacement spokes? I contacted I9 way back and they have some at whatever color you like. They cost $5 each but that was back in 2009.

Bong, I can't go without 2x9 on my daily commutes. Otherwise, I spin out at 20mph. I'm thinking of trying out 1x9 while commuting using a chainring larger than 32t.

You know when they said pbr I thought they are talking about peanutbutter and jelly and I was thinking this guy is making such big deal out of sandwich. And when I stop for the 2nd lap then I realized what the pbr meant for the best tasting beer I ever had in the race well 1st one ever;)

Jon, I didn't make it that far. Erwin, if I made it to the second lap, Granny would have been calling my name.
