I started the day today with a good 61 miles of road biking. Came home and my son asked me if we could go to Cunny bmx jump track, so he could play his RC truck. When we got there, other kids were already using the jump track. So we just chilled and watched them doing the jumps. And then the unthinkable happened! This 18 year old kid landed front wheel first and hit his head on the ground and turn turtle at the bottom of the hill that has a big jump with a big gap going to the other hump. He cleared it on his 2nd run, landing on his back wheel first, jumping to a height of about 6-10 ft. Unfortunately, on his 3rd run, he landed front wheel first. To make things worse, he was not wearing a helmet. I ran to him and asked him if he's ok but he said, "I'm not ok and i can't feel my body from the neck down to my toes!" OMG if felt so traumatized! I was on the side of the jump with my son when this thing happened, so i saw everything. . I called his friends to come down, i asked them if they have phones. But nobody was answering, everybody was just shocked! So i called 911 by myself and the rest was history. Man i wish i didn't see this accident happen. I'm still in shock as I'm typing this. He's only 18 yrs old, i really hope he'll be ok. God help him:-[ Here's some pics

Wow Erwin, that's some news man. Don't let this get you down man. Keep doing what you're doing and everything will be alright. Stay confident and keep wearing your helmet. I just hope that this news does not give any negative feedback to the governing trail gurus......i.e. removing the pump tracks or making the trail all Green, etc......

Thanks Rxr but man that was really scary. His position on that pic was like that after he crashed until the paramedics came. It took a little bit longer for them to find us. 2 kids have to go outside just to wait for the ambulance to guide them to the scene. I felt so bad for that kid man, his friends pinched both of his legs but he can't feel anything. We asked him to move his fingers and toes but he can't moved them. It was a big scene there today, with a police helicopter hovering around. I really hope and pray that he'll be ok.

You did right not to move him or let anyone move him until EMS arrived. Kudos to you, Erwin. Hope the kid's ok.

I hope that the rider is ok. This is truly a sad moment. I just can't think of anything beyond an accident such as this. Erwin, great photos no matter how tragic it is and glad that non of you didn't try to give the injured rider water or move the guy. This is just what I have written on another thread. Great job! Merlin , if he was wearing that brace it could have avoided his injury. The thing that keeps bothering me is that i saw his head just pulled so much to the back. I was terrified to death!
