The weather looks great for Sunday. We should meet 8:00am @ 40-03 29th Street, Long Island City, NY 11101 (Verve Hotel). Here is our proposed route from the Verve Hotel via 59th Street bridge. maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=40-03+29th+Street,+Long+Island+City,+NY+11101+(Verve+Hotel,+an+Ascend+Collection+hotel)&daddr=Grand+Concourse,+Bronx,+NY&geocode=Fd3TbQIdVdWX-yHAPer1Q3_7bilpRQw1K1_CiTGwFGL-eNWpwg%3BFb9DbwIdLTuY-ykpmkvFa_TCiTFm20mt4u5x2w&hl=en&mra=pd&mrcr=0&dirflg=b&sll=40.776742,-73.887484&sspn=0.345259,0.725784&ie=UTF8&ll=40.792337,-73.927817&spn=0.021054,0.045362&z=15&lci=bike

it was a very nice ride today!!! the weather was perfect!!! 8-)merlin,jose,brazil and paul parked by lic 59th st side so i decided to go over the bridge from city side to meet up with them. we all headed towards 161st via fdr drive for the start. the line for the registration was so long. paul was so slick that he was able to skip everyone on line to register!!! he found out that the bib had a free pizza coupon...so he decided to get back on the long line with bigboy, brazil, merlin, and i to get another pizza coupon!!!(jon you have competition w/food now!!)lol ;D I think we waited till 11am to start the tour. The start of the tour was a walk a ton and then picked up to a nice pace. It was nice till bigboy decided to catch the fast cycling group that went by!!! You all know bigboy wants to pass everyone...at one point we ran out of guyz to pass!!lol Got to the first rest stop and had bagels and juice by the river. We got back on the road and you know it isn't a road ride till we get lost somehow!!!lol we finally saw some other riders so we decided to follow them to the right course. Finally got to the botanical garden where they had cool giveaways!!! Free pizza, bag, water, and teeshirts. Followed bigboy's lead and got two shirts one for me and one for karla. We took a vote and decided to take the subway home!!! very smart idea!!! ;D thank you guyz for a nice safe ride...till next time!!!

It was a great day to ride a bike. Rob says it all but I may add we were one of the first group to reach Botanical Garden. What Pizza line? I think the pizza was still warm. It was great riding with Rob, Jose, Brazil and Paul.

I agree with Jose about the start. It was always a bottle-neck and some confusion/crashes at the start. That's nothing new on all the NYC organized rides (Bike NY, NYC Century, MS Bike, Tour de Cure, Tour de Bronx, etc, etc. However after that magic mile 9, the road opens up. I was amazed how smooth and fast riding around the Bronx area and that Cemetery with all the famous and rich NYers were lay rested was a nice experience a plus.
Until next time.

Here is my Garmin Data of Tour de Bronx. If I recorded the ride from home and back, I would probably did a metric century that day. Nothing new.
