CUNNINGHAM PARK INTERMITTENT TRAIL CLOSURES as copied from CLIMB eNEWS... NYC PARKS is starting a long term project on the west side that may result in temporary trail closures on the "green apple" trail and the "ankle biter" trail in the south west quadrant of the park. The project will involve removing non-native invasive plants and planting thousands of native trees and shrubs. We will post a sign at the beginning of the trail to notify of the closures. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Stay tuned... To subscribe to CLIMB eNews, sign up here: www.climbonline.org/email_subscription.html

Is this only for the winter? Not really familiar with the trail names on the west side of chp but does these means most of the westside trail will be closed temporarily?

It's just temporary, they don't want to kick us out. They just don't want anyone in there after they have sprayed herbicides to kill the invasive plants such as poison ivy. It's for your safety. They will also be planting new trees and shrubs.
