Hope they weren't looking for me in the woods like last time in jungle M.I.A Hey how come nobody is talking about the female rider who passed all of us For me two times tho, she had a flat and passed again, all I can remember about her was her Ti ss bike and legs . Anyway that was a good race.

Thanks Bigboy for helping me fix my chain ring so I could suffer for another 25 miles!!
Good job and congrats to all of you who tried. That was one of the tougher races I've done.
Sunday really offered perfect riding conditions which made the outlook of a 50-mile suffer fest pretty good. I was hoping to get a top ten in the SS class.
I knew I had no chance of top 5 so I placed myself at 6th as we went off. About a mile in the guy in front of me flatted, two seconds later I hear my rear wheel leaking too. I got off trying to shake some Stan's in place without luck. Put a tube in, ran out of CO2 but saw a 1/2 dozen other flatted riders further down (Georges was one of them) and borrowed a pump from a nice gal. NYCMTB was now rocking the last two spots in SS.
I continued with my race at a comfortable pace, making sure not to burn myself trying to make up for lost time. Towards the end of lap 1 I had picked a couple of spots but noticed a chain ring bolt was missing. Rode easy on the last fire road to finish up the lap without messing up the ring too much.
At the pit my friend Dave luckily had an extra bolt. Norm(MTBNJ) Sergio(mtbnycstyle) did their best to help me get it in place. We gave up after a while and I decided to DNF. After another 45 minutes I decided to give it another shot with Sergio. We got it in place!
So about 15 min after the 4 hour cut-off I went out and finished my second lap without issues or flats. I have to say I admire the determination of the people I passed on my second lap as much as the crazy fast guys banging out two laps in sub 5 hours.
Great riding and very happy I didn't end up with a DNF.

I dont have the right to complain about this b/c i did not sign up for it in the first place but I just have one suggestion to the people who made the bearscat50 endurance race course. I mean common man, there's a fine line between technical mountain bike courses but the one you made, some of the sections if not many are not even ridable. They could have made it into a 10 mile loop and could have made the ride more enjoyable. Seriously yesterday I could still do 1 more lap as I did not burn myself on the first lap but i decided not to thinking of the many sections that I have to walk. I don't care about the 50 miles as most of us last year did 70 miles or more at the 6 hour race. If you want the racers to suffer let them suffer pedaling their bikes and not walking it. It's a bike race for Christ sake. That's why I don't do cyclocross cause I hate the running and carrying my bike. Lol ;D Just saying.

hey, guys! it is a very tough course.and i hate climbing.all others aspect i can deal it easily.except for the climb and it getting worse when i'm getting burn out. prop to all of you guys, even just doing one laps, there's always next year to get better.
and to my friend daniel. you're the strongest rider that i always admire.and now you proof me you're truly strong, not just physicall but most important mentality strong. so,we all have to learned a lesson from daniel,"never give up hope, there's always a way and chances" and i did just like that yesterday. there's no way i giving up this race just becoz i have a slow leak and don't have anymore Co2 or pump.there's always good peoples out there that are willing to help you out. you just have to have determination.
and thanks for lending me "the lucky jersey" i love that jersey make me feel a part of this cool site and community.

Thanks rachet. ;D ;D I know a lot of us do the dh40 race every year. If you compare the two dh40 and bearscat50, dh40 will look like the CP 6 hour race course. ;D ;D Bearscat 50 course was just a total riot. ;D They even have a section were it look like a swamp area were they just dumped boulders to make a pathway for you to cross. Hahaha total madness! Anyway you're right rachet can't complain b/c a lot of the women finish the race. ;D ;D I could have finish it maybe on 15th or 16th place in Moe's age group if I continued the race. Sorry Moe ;D but we all had fun and the food was awesome. Hahaha

Hey ratchet, too bad you couldn't make it out there. Just to clarify; I was only in sixth until I flatted. Finished dead last of riders completing 2 laps in the SS class. Liong, thanks. I agree many of us would not have been able to finish without determination OR the generosity of fellow riders. Erwin, grow a set will you. ;D

They even have a section were it look like a swamp area were they just dumped boulders to make a pathway for you to cross. I've cleared that section twice before out of like 10 tries maybe, but even more difficult in a race setting. It is hard to clear, but not as difficult as it looks because they fill in between the rocks, somewhat. I was feeling good on the 1st lap, so I tried to ride it and fell in the water .. 2nd lap I didn't even attempt it ;D The last 10 miles were brutal for me. I think I had water intoxication and had to pee 4 times and major crampage and nothing left on the upper body, so leaning on the bars on the rigid which did a number on my hands and lower back. Saw Viking pass by me on the last fireroad stretch. Finally made it to the end, with lots of people cheering me on, as they were having the award ceremony there. That was the best part ;D Could barely walk after I got home

Congrats Daniel, Liong and Jimmy for completing this very tough race. All of you suffered and probably still felling the pain all over your body right now but the feeling of achieving your goal... finishing 2 gruelling laps was priceless. I was just dissappointed that I did not really enjoy the suffering of this race because I have to stop every 2-5 minutes to put back my chain. My chain popped out every little rocks I rode over. I could not used any of the downhill momentum as after that my chain was off again. My Ebb also slipped at least three times. And lastly I wasted a lot of my time when my chain broke completely. I put my quick link in less than 5 minutes but when I was trying to put back my chain to my ring the chain was tangled on my frame and I had a hard time taking out the quick link that I just put If you know me, I am not good on maintaining my bike and not any better fixing it so it took me at least 20-25 minutes to fix that, while I was fixing my chain almost if not all racers passed me. . Although it was a tough and very technical race course I can't wait to sign up for the next Bearscat 50 next year and try it again and achieve what I signed up for...is to Suffer! I ordered a new Ebb and a different chain keeper so hopefully this problem will be fix and will be ready for the next suffer-fest race... DH40!

Daniel you're welcome, after seen the determination on your face, I had to help you, I felt obligated just the way I'm. But what I really think, it's time my friend to invest in a new machine, you're a excellent soldier just need a good weapon.
