To those in the know, Fox Racing Shox has Protune offerings that allows older suspension fork upgrades. I recently upgraded my 2010 Fox Racing Shox to 2011 with Kashima coating. It is a worthwhile upgrade that costs 1/3 less price vs new fork. Protune can be done DIY or you can have your LBS upgrade your fork. Fox Racing Shox has detailed service instructions with pictures and video. You simply swap the new parts with the old parts. That's all there is to it! SEE BELOW. service.foxracingshox.com/consumers/index.htm or for more info Call (800) FOX - SHOX. Parts I used to Protune my Fox Racing Fork. Remove all dampers and drain old oil Replace dust wipers with new Old vs New Clean and inspect lower fork assembly New dust wiper and foam rings installed. Ready for new stickers. Old vs the new Kashima coating Cut the steerer tube to the same length as old Clean headset bearings while everything is taken apart Inspect FIT and Air spring assemblies...looks good. Put everything back together Finished product. It is now Protuned 2010 F100 FIT with Kashima coating Finally, clean up and open a nice bottle of Red wine. Enjoy! That was a fun little project!

Thanks! Sears auto in Hicksville.
Stay tuned. It looks like the new FIT terralogic cartridge assembly might fit.

Really sweet Levi. Didn't your 2010 Fox fork already come with Kashima coat? or Fox started on 2011??? Any how, great job on the mod. FYI: for those who may have Rock Shox 29er forks, there is a kit to modify your crown to a 51mm offset I just stumbled on just Googling one night which I thought might be cool......

Very nice mod Levi! The terralogic, isn't that the same forks as the specialized brain forks but just a different name? If that fits I might upgrade to it. I really want that brain fork it's just that it's exclusive for specialized brands only. Lmk please if it works. Thanks

Hmmm...not sure if the Kashima coating were available on select 2010 Fox Racing forx. Mine surely has the old coating.
I have other small neat little projects going on. I will revisit this thread if I can get the NEW FIT Terralogic cartridge assembly.

It looks very nice Levi. Btw, what are the advantages of the kashima coating compare to the original one. Does it weigh less?

Hi Jon. Thanks!
The Kashima coated steerer assembly in conjunction with the new air spring assembly feels more linear. It feels buttery smooth. Not sure about the durability of the Kashima coating. Only time will tell.

Update: The new Terralogic will fit inside the older 2010 fork. As previously stated, 2011 F-Series has new air spring. It is basically a few millimeter shorter which increases the air volume inside the fork and has different spring rate. This enables the fork to achieve full travel while maintaining the sag as opposed to the older spring assembly. So if you are going to upgrade to the 2011 Kashima steerer assembly, it is probably a good idea to also buy the new air shaft assembly or buy the entire fork. Factual information: It is significantly cheaper to upgrade the fork instead of buying a new one. Notes: 1. To prevent damage, installation of the new Air Shaft Assembly should start from the bottom of the steerer. 2. Be very careful not to scratch the inside of the tube. If you scratch the inside of the tube, you will have air leak. 3. 26mm is hard to find, you can also use 1" socket or an adjustable wrench. 4. Always use new crush washers. See picture for comparison. New vs Old Big difference [/quote]

I finally had some time to install the new FIT Terralogic cartridge assembly. Installation took only 10minutes. It directly replaced the old FIT RLC assembly. Simply pull the old one out and drop the new one in. That is there is to it. Basically. I only had very little opportunity to test and ride the new FIT Terralogic shocks. With Terralogic installed you don't need a lockout on the fork or handle bar. It is all automatic. This thing truly works! This tweak is highly recommended for XC racing. Terralogic cartridge assembly weighs in at 272g vs RLC FIT 165g. The weight difference is negligible because the performance and effeciency of the new Terralogic cartridge further out classed its slight weight penalty. Lockout replaced by rebound damper adjustment. Installed

Thanks Levi for the info! Where did you get it and how much? Is there any for 29er?

You are welcome. It is available directly from Fox Racing. They have one for a 29er. It costs $350 for the entire Terralogic assembly. It is a little costly but I think once you have tried it, the price of admission will be forgotten. This is your speed weapon No. 3. Make sure you call Fox Racing for compatibilty with your current fork. The thread pattern in my fork between 2010 RLC FIT and 2011 FIT Terralogic assemblies are the same. Hence, plug n play. Thanks Levi for the info! Where did you get it and how much? Is there any for 29er?
