I have to say something here about my good friend BB. That he placed 41 out of 481 participants is accomplishment enough. However, you have to view that accomplishment in perspective. Barely a few months ago when BB did his first TRI race in Flushing Park in a pool he couldn't swim from one end of the pool to the other without stopping and holding to the side rails. That's how bad his swimming was. But on his own and with only some tips from friends BB thought himself how to swim not only in the pool but in open water. The Huntington TRI race took place in the Long Island Sound in very choppy conditions that a lot of veteran swimmers found difficult. So that he not only survived the swim but then had a super fast bike and run where he beat the rest of us that have been doing triathlons for years and have been swimming for even more is truly amazing and inspiring.
