So who from the tribe is racing 2009? I'm hoping to do all 8 h2h SS class this season. I'm aiming for top three since a couple o the horses will be moved up to Cat 1(old Expert) I also hope to do one of the long ones just for the experience. I'll be rocking Team NYCMTB Peak Bikes spandex for the coming season. But my heart is dressed in MTBNYCSTYLE colors

I'll be rocking Team NYCMTB Peak Bikes spandex for the coming season. But my heart is dressed in MTBNYCSTYLE colors Hey Viking Congratulations and I'm happy for you for making it to Team NYCMTB. You still have our support or at least my support As for who's racing next season, count me and AkaGC in. If I can, I'd like to do all 8 races plus the other two events that I highlighted above. I'm still undecided if I should do Sports Cat. or stay as a Beginners. I've been listening to people who raced beginners and now races sports, most of them said that in Beginners Cat. from the start of the race up to the finish line its all out hammerfest. Beginners has no time to warm up and pace themselves. In Sports Cat. some said, you can ride in a steady pace on the first lap and hammer it at the 2nd lap. What you think guys? Does it makes any sense? I was just thinking since I'm paying fees to race maybe I should just join the Sports Cat. and do two laps. I'm just worried that by doing two laps the probability for me to DNF is greater than in Beginners Cat. Any inputs or comments will be greatly appreciated. Oh one more thing, my no. 3 is coming this January so I'm not sure if I'll be able to ride as much as I want.

One more thing I noticed during the race, I tend to have a hard time breathing on first 3.5 miles of the race course. After that first 3 miles I was more relax and was breathing more easily. I guess it's all part of the race, all those adrenaline pumping through your blood makes your lungs tighter. I know your first race was Sport Cat. and then you went down to Beginners Cat. what was the difference? Are the racers in Sports Cat. are much much faster than the racers in Beginners?

Yes, they're more faster, just need to keep calm and paste yourself remember its no how fast you ride its for how long can you keep it, try harder in your weekness good luck or instead of making so many babies lets ride more

During every race this year I asked myself the same question after the first lap: Why didn't I sign up for beginner? But why get tortured for only one lap when the price for two is the same . When I did my first race in Stewart, the most consecutive miles I had done was one lap in CHP. So needless to say, I didn't have a clue how long I was gonna last. I was dead after two miles and had to walk every climb that required more than ten strokes. I killed myself in jungle habitat too, tried to chase the infamous spandex horse ;D. Knowing your own limits is definitely helpful. So Jon, keep training and when spring comes around we'll do the ringwood or blue course two straight laps. If you're not crying going up the switch back in Ringwood the second time you're ready for Sport. Actually, I cried this year when Liong passed me but don't tell anyone. ;D If any of you guys plan on doing 6 or more races this year you will benefit from getting a yearly license since they will raise the one-day license cost from $5 to $10. You also get a buch of other benefits so it might be worth it anyway. www.usacycling.org/

If you're not crying going up the switch back in Ringwood the second time you're ready for Sport. Actually, I cried this year when Liong passed me but don't tell anyone. ;D Oh yes those switch back in Ringwood, always ride there and still couldn't clear those switch back. And yes they added additional 2-3 miles of technical single track that connects to the race trail all the way up to shepperd lakes. I guess its all depends on how much I will be able to ride my bike by spring time. If I can accumulate at least 50 - 60 mile/ride a week two months before the first race I'll go for Cat 2 if not I will stay in Cat 3
