I decided to braved the weather today (4/20/09) and went to scout the Wawayanda race course. I was supposed to ride with Liong today but he bailed out due to the weather. I was there around 10AM and my first 2 miles (half way from Sitting Bear), my rear tire started loosing air so I had to walk my bike back to my car. When I get to my car I tried to put an inner tube, unfortunately my tube was for my 26 inch tire. Luckily I still had the stan's in my trunk and decided to add more stans's on my tire and after that my tire's holding air. So I went back to the woods. After 30 minutes it started to rain and the rain became hail back and forth, I thought about going back to my car and just go home but I looked at my watch and told myself I still have two more hours to play so I decided to pedal some more. I made it up to Pines Trail but made a mistake and made a left on to rattlesnake - very technical single track. After that I was back on Tombstone and it was 1:30 PM, I was a little bit worried cuz I went round and round between Tombstone, Pines trail and Turkey Ridge. At this time I was really tired, wet and cold and still thinking if I can get back to my car to to pick up my daughter by 3PM Finally somehow I managed to find Cherry Ridge so I took that all the way to Laurel Pond and got back to my car around 2PM and picked up my daughter just in time. I used Trailguru but their database is down at this time so I'll just post my route when trailguru is back online. Enjoy
P.S. After doing half of the race course I'm contemplating on going back to CAT 3! ;D

jon, just for future reference, you can use and stretch out a 26er tube to use on a 29er rim - I do it all the time.

First of all I would like to say WELCOME BACK SSG! It's nice to hear from you again so when you gonna play with us again in the woods? ;D About your suggestion, I actually tried to stretch the 26er tube out cuz i've done that before on my bontrager 29er rims and it works out just fine but for some reason when I tried it to my new wheelset I had a hard time putting back in the tire on my rim, maybe I was just impatient that time. Anyway, welcome back again and hope you can ride with us soon!

thanks for the welcome, but dunno, man. sure is painful coming back after a long lay-off. went to CHP over the weekend and can only do 3 slow laps, then cramps set in. plus, the soreness in the days that follow! I have to get over this lazy bug that's been with me thru the whole winter! hopefully I get to see some, if not all of you, this weekend?

I rode the race course yesterday afternoon with my friend Rob and John. I finally completed the whole lap without getting lost. After, riding the whole race course all I can say is this race course is tough especially on a race pace. And this race course will be much much more tougher on Sunday if the weather forecast is right....Showers, roots, rocks and water X 2 is not really my cup of tea. I'm really contemplating of just racing CAT 3....mhuwaaaa, whaaaaa! ;D

We're now scared and decided not to do race #1. Tagman is sooo pumped up now and should be 100% for race #2. I mentioned to Rolex about the upcoming races and he said that he is willing to race just for fun the way it's supposed to be ;D for mid-age guys like us...lol

Thanks for the good luck wishes I'm sure I'm gonna need it. Like most of the fast rider in my age group/Cat2 will have a flat tire or mechanical problem. ;D

Stumpy, I don't mean to scared you that just my opinion, I still think you should go and sign up it!
