It was great to see such a big group of people at CHP last night. However, two people were really shining with their absence; chute KONA, probably at home carving on his wooden bike and of course jontotman. Is he still licking his wounds from monday night?
Latest word from IMBA is that after last night's event, CHP will be the first intermediate trail to require full face helmets and body armour for XC riding. Apparently parents are also afraid of bringing their young ones for a mellow evening bike ride. What's next? Kids scared of smoking pot on rocks and log piles?
Lots of mechanical problems on the first loop last night. Cranks, seats posts, ripped pants, lose handlebar and gary Cruz' suspension leaking like an old lady. Viking and Prancing horse did not even have the courtesy to wait up. Shame on you!
When we finally got out on the second loop I didn't know what to expect. BIGBOY took the lead but was not really pushing it. Was it fear? Just tired? Not in the mood? I don't know. As many top athletes know, It's lonely at the top. Then, after a few turns and bunny jumps it all makes sense. It's the bike! Simple obstacles are causing BIGBOY to lose speed balance and even his temper some times. @#$% leftie! A few minutes after the bridge it's time for BIGBOY's first sommersault. Quick receovery and we're off again.
Picking up speed all the way to the bridge and increasing after crossing it. Viking decides to do the big log pile. Keeping a good pace for the climb and downhill twisties. Entering the last sharp right turn and coming up to the 60 foot log ride BIGBOY decides to clear it on the left. Viking has a credit from the big log pile and clears it on the right passing BIGBOY who struggles with another bunny jump. Viking has to stand up and pedal to make it over the finish line first. All of a sudden I hear BIGBOY behind me, he actually reminds of a lokomotive. Huffymaniackis swears he saw smoke coming out of his ears. BIGBOY is almost beside me when the unthinkable happens, another 360. head first. But BIG BOY is a big boy and survives, just another story to tell.
RIDE SAFELY TONIGHT!!!!
PS. Two lefties don't make a right.
