I'm impressed with my Rig so far. It's my first SS and first 29er. Based on my riding yesterday at Cunny, the Rig seems to blow through the logs and rocks with ease. I'm impressed with the handling of this bike. It seems much faster than my FS Stumpy. I've noticed that, it seems to gain speed quickly going downhill and its momentum helps me carry up the hills.
Honestly during my first ride with my new Rig yesterday, I was wondering if the single speed was a good idea. It was hard work. I'm so used to sitting and spinning on my FS Stumpy ride and rarely if ever stand up. On my Rig I have to stand up especially on a steep hill (according to Huffymaniackis that's what I should always do)! On the second half lap it gotten easier.
Overall, I'm very pleased so far. The Fox fork works well and the Avid brakes are impressive for mechanicals. It wasn't as smooth as my hydraulic brakes on my 07 Stumpy! I feel that this bike will definitely make me a stronger rider (according to PrancingHorse, StumpMasta and HuffyManiackis).
Now I just need to train my thumbs to stay put and ride more often! ;D
For those interested, it weighs 25.6lbs.

Jon your rig rocks! I would definitely get one if I had the money. Maybe I'll save up so I can get the '09 by the end of the year which could be another pound lighter. Mastering the gf rig, you'll be a different warrior before you know it. If you wanna keep up with the caballeros, you gotta do some secret training on the side. Congrats on your new ride. More power to MTBNYCSTYLE.

from one Huffy owner to whoever else rides a Huffy: dude, that is one sweeeeeet ride you have. very efficient - i walked away very impressed. congrats on the acquisition.
yes, singlespeeding is hard and a lot of work - if you're not used to it. give it a chance and once you're used to it, that's all you'll be asking for on your rides. use your momentum when you know you have to climb and stand up (it also avoids knee pain). remember when you were a kid climbing up a hill on your bike, swaying the handlebars from side to side, will also help you on those long climbs. use your body weight as well as you pedal thru. you'll learn more tricks to ss as you progress along with your riding.
WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE, Newbie! see you at CHP soon. and to everyone - don't let me catch you guys SECRET TRAINING - like BigBoy and Viking! ;D
