Did some research on the subject last night and it seems to be a recurring problem with eccentric bottom brackets (EBB) on the GF rigs. I googled and found threads on forums all over the country regarding this issue. This Carver EBB got pretty good reviews and would be considered an upgrade I guess. www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/BMAN-EBBRIGTo save up on LBS tune-ups and maintanence costs I am starting my own repair shop this week. Does anyone have any good leads on tool kits. I know you told me about a place with 20% sale right now Louie, but I forgot.

ok, just my 2cents here. a lot of times, when bottom bracket creaks, it's because the bottom bracket shell is dry, especially with much use, and needs some lubrication. before buying anything, try to remove the bottom bracket and grease the mounting parts and the bottom bracket shell. re-install and try again. I read this info in Ask Rich in Mountain Bike Action a while back, and serves as a good info. check it out before buying anything.

Performancebike.com - I think the 20% off is up until 7/25 and look up spin doctor tool sets. It's good to have one, it comes in handy. I just don't know about the special tool for EBB, you may want to call them first.
