RECENT LOSSES

Our mountain biking community recently lost three members in the past weeks.

Bill Pope a former president of CLIMB, riders Rick Usher and Luis Varela will be
forever remembered in our hearts and soul on the trails. Rest in Peace.
Condolences to their families.

CLIMB HOLIDAY PARTY TUESDAY NIGHT DECEMBER 6TH

Join us at Molly Malone's in Bayshore for a sit down catered dinner party.

12:00PM TILL 4PM

Meet at the side of Sunnyside Blvd north of the Northern State Parkway bridge.
Wear boots, long pants, gloves and bring water and a snack.

We are finishing a re-route to avoid the unsafe crossing in the middle
of the on/off ramp.

CLIMB TRAIL ADOPTERS WANTED

=============================================

Adopt A Trail Section Program...Become a Trail Caretaker!

We need people to take care of certain sections of trail especially Manorville Hills and other areas.

This will free up the trail steward to do more important tasks.

Trail Care Responsibilities:

Inspect trail at least once a month, more in summer
Clean trash along trail and around trailhead
Clear fallen trees or branches. Call for help if too large
Prune back trail growth especially around blind turns. Visibility prevents accidents.
Puddle drain maintenance.Just keep the drains clear by de-berming and removing a few shovel fulls of dirt. This will only need to be done twice a year. Do not dig new drains we will take care of large puddles with a work party. Let trail work coordinator know where a new drain is needed.
Make sure trail markers are visible and in good shape.
Block off any short cuts or spider trails.
Let trail work coordinator (sick4surf) know of any problems, or ATV use. Make sure ATV blocking poles are intact at street entrances. We will install new ones at your request.

DO NOT: dig new drains, build new trails, bridges or stunts. No Re-routes.

MANORVILLE HILLS VANDALISM

Please be on the look out for suspicious activity when riding Manorville Hills.

A few riders have been reporting flats due to nails. The DEC and Park Police have been alerted and are asking everyone to report any info about vandalism to these numbers: Suffolk Park Police: 631-854-1422 or DEC: 631-444-0250.

The trail is really shaping up and we need to let the haters know that this won't stop us from riding the trails.

Do not confront anyone, just provide info to the police and let them do their job.
