I missed this one last year due to Waway race. Although, this ride is much longer I would probably get my workout in Waway's 20 miles race so I will probably miss this again this year. Unless my wife and my 6 year old daughter want to join this, I may have to skip the Waway race and babysit them here.

I did the Five Boro Bike Tour last year. Jon is right, it is a good work out at wawayanda compare to the bike tour. If you guys want a good work out try the Harlem Valley Rail Ride. Up coming event 7/25. I did that too last yr.

Is this a race? What kind of bike road? No this is not a race. I you haven't done it, you should try it with your family at least once. This is kinda sight seeing bike ride with the family. You get to ride in NYC highways and streets at the same time get to sightseeing on your bike. But don't think you can hammer your bike here. If you happen to be all the way on the back when it starts, expect to wait at least an hour before you can start to pedal. ;D

would it be more comfortable riding a mountain bike (bec. of the more upright position) vs a road bike? I noticed from the pictures how tightly packed it's going to be.

You'll see people riding their $5K road bikes then you look on your right you'll see a people riding a beater bike that if you accidentally touch it you might get a tetanus. lol You'll see kids riding their K-mart bikes with training wheels, BMX, cruisers, bikes with trailer for their kids, tandem bikes, SS, Fixie etc...etc...

I'll try to convince my wife that she and my daughter come along as well. Did you need to train for the ride?

Mr. Rawhide, you can use your mtb , but i suggest to change your knobby tires into road slick tires to ease the roll on paved roads I'm thinking, I'm thinking ;D

OK, I'm 90% in. (I'll register on Feb. 1 anyway.)
How do you get there? Do you drive or take the train?
