My bike is making this creaking sound when I put pressure on the pedal both sides. Tried to tighten my chainring, took off my crankset cleaned it grease it, took off the bottom bracket cleaned it grease it. But still the creaking sound is still there. So i started checking my frame and saw a small crack on my right chainstay(chainring side). Do you think this is the one that is making the creaking sound? I'll bring it to dean and have it check. If I need a frame replacement, how long will it take for the new one to come? Hopefully before June 27?

I'm sorry to hear that Erwin. I talked to Trek warranty dept. rep. and he said after they recieve all necessary paperworks and pictures from your LBS in our case it's Grand Bicycles it only takes one week to recieve the replacement frame, if the frame is in stock. It took more than 3 weeks before i got my replacement frame because i wasn't on top of it, but when I called Trek myself they sent the frame the next day.
I wish you good luck and I hope you'll get your replacement frame before the LM race on June 27.

Thank you guys! I think this Is the downside of having a carbon frame. Never crash nor hit it with anything. The hairline crack is on top middle of chainstay.

Sorry to hear about your frame Erwin. I have a friend who lost several front teeth and a broken wrist when his carbon road frame failed on him. I just thought to my self WTF? Don't get my statement wrong, carbon are great lightweight and durable material. They supposed to last. The good side about this is it did not completely fail on you while you are riding it. 3 weeks is a fairly long wait but at least you have spare bikes!

Omg! Dean said it's going to take forever to exchange my frame! He said if the frame only have a hairline crack trek is really a pain in the butt to deal with unless you snap the chainstay in half. WTF?! I think this is the end for Gary Fisher products for me if they don't give me a warranty on my frame.

Hey Irwin sorry about your carbon GF. I'm sure it will get replaced and Dean will hook you up in no time. I guess you now have to train with your FS for the time being and probably will be beneficial for you in the long run because you will be pedaling with a heavier bike, thus making you stronger by the time you get your replacement frame .

you said you never dropped or crashed your superfly but still the frame failed?! Why dont you try a Ti hardtail geared 29er.. you have the legs to pedals it FASTER than you ever did on your FLY(no more SUPER coz it failed) All you need is to transfer all components and you're ready to ride. just my 2 cents.. anyway, goodluck on your frame warranty. Get your enduro out and continue riding.

@prancing. Yes Prance but training on a 26er for a while on dirt trails and then jump to 29er will give you a different feel on the bike handling especially on corners. That's why I only train with my fs on asphalt, I know it's wierd lol but it's like my weight training workout already. But for now I don't have a choice. @rachet. That's what I'm thinking right now but not sure what kind of frame to get. Yeah I never crash the bike nor hit anything, weird tho now I have second thoughts on carbon frames. But I'm going to try and get the replacement warranty and maybe have another ti or aluminum frame just for back up. GiantMasta. Yeah what's the weight on your niner frame? I might consider that frame too. Thanks all.

Yes. Definitely. Call me any time Erwin. Read up on the new issue MBAction magazine. They have a Review on it if you are interested on getting a Lynskey 29er Ti frame. I love it. Does the Superfly have an Eccentric BB? Are you sure it's a crack on the Carbon or just on the clear enamel coating? Did you also check on your seat post clamps? If it does have an eccentric BB, I actually didn't put any grease inside after cleaning because I also had those problems when I had the GF Rig and it went away. I also cleaned my seatpost/bolts/clamps and put grease on them. If anything, good luck in getting the replacement frame. If you want, I can ride it even more for you to enlarge the crack. HEHEHE. In addition, stop pedaling so hard ;D

Thank you Rxr. I brought it to dean yesterday and his mechanic checked it and it's really a crack. He said two weeks for the replacement, so i'm hopeful i can get it before the Morris race. Mind you how much is the lynskey 29er ti frame and where did you get it? I'll just have it maybe as my extra frame just in case something happen to my replacment frame again. Btw maybe cuz i ride it almost everyday now thats why it broke but not for pedaling hard. ;D

Wow Giantmasta that is lighter than most ti frames that I checked. And the price is also way cheaper. Hmm
