do you have to be in the same category....can i pay half since i am cat3? lol i am running lotz of new gear that could go wrong with my bike...and wish i had gears!!! but i am down for donating $10 to the pot!!! but what about getting together after the race for some good steak and beer? ;D

For my long rides and races this year I've relied on water plus these three fuels only: Hammer Sustained Energy Hammer Endurolytes Gel, mostly Hammer because I like their flavors and they have the refill bottle which brings the cost down to way under a dollar/shot. No bonking, no stomach issues. I think sustained Energy works excellent for me as I can't stand solid food, including bars etc, when riding long and hard. Bananas work too if you have a pit stop like at this race. I'm looking to do a nice 40-50 mile training ride this weekend, then chill and rest all next week, maybe a short road ride or two, very easy spins if they happen at all.

Thanks and your welcome I mix a Sustained bottle to last 2-3 hours Pop a gel every 45 min - 60 min 1-2 capsules of endurolytes/hour (maybe more if it's hot but for this race 1 or 2/hour should be fine Water through out the race, of course. I start sipping the Sustained within the first hour. Don't wait until your hungry- then it's too late

Same thing with me Viking I have been using sustain energy and heed since chute introduced me to hammer products. I want to share my secret mixes to Rob but I'm scared he might even get stonger and drop me in our rides more. So just try and experiment it yourself mr. Rob The problem with the bear mountain ride was that I finished my two bottles halfway at the top of the hill. Coming back I was dringking water and boom bonked.

Keep taking all the nuts guys, thats what happens, go natural I just drink Heed 2 scoops on my bottles mix with pedialite, protein bars true out the race and Hammer gel, I used endurolites twice and I cramp like never before so I stop @ Erwin stop been selfish and share the secret My ,2 cents

Okay here you go man, I put 2 scoops of heed and 1 scoop of sustained energy in 21 ounces bottle. That's my mixes in my 2 bottles. I bring endurolites with me during the ride but before the ride I take 4 and after every hour. I bring some hammer gels and bar with me during long rides just in case but when we rode bear mountain I ate it very late when I bonked already. Should have eaten it at the top of the mountain to avoid hunger. Lesson learned! Important thing to me is that i don't mix gatorades with my drinks or I will end up with major crampings and lactic acid build up. That's why when my mixed drinks are all gone during rides, I just drink water. One more thing you need not forget to pop endurolites every hour to avoid cramping, once the cramping starts it's very har to go away. So I always watch my time when I took the first endurolites, I can go up to 1:30 or 2:00hrs with 4 capsules without cramping. But it also depends if I'm with you because you just keep hammering all the time. So the best thing to do is listen to your body and then take the necessary steps before it's too late. Bonked! Jon I think we need to close this forum to the members only. We are revealing a lot of ingredients here, others might beat us at the race with these. Lol! But seriously yes! I also take 4 capsules of endurance amino together with my endurolites every hour. My mixes BigB gives me zero cramping at all! Now let's keep these secret, we have a lot of h2h races to win next year. Check your weight to scoop ratio in the heed and sustained energy bigb. The heavier you are the more scoops you need. About endurolites, if I only take 2 at the start and 2 after every hour, I will still cramp so that's why I take 4. Yup a lot man but it works for me all the time. Other than that my other secret is riding a lot of mileage.

Don't worry about your racing fuel preferences being posted out in public because everyone's metabolism is different. What may work for you may or may not work for another guy.
