FYI: This race is NOT sanction by USACycling rules so If you have extra bike and would like to bring it just in case you had a unrepairable mechanical you CAN use your back up bike.  |

Thanks guys. It doesn't matter about the results. We all know we are there and we tried. It just happened that I while I was doing the DH40 with all the troubles and pain, I actually had lots of fun. Ding...ding...ding...my bell goes off to everyone!

Learned a lot of things, that's all I could say - what an experience...woooo hoooo!!!!! that's right Prance, WE (with Bigboy) were having FUN bombing the hill after that long gravel climb and BOOM....Stan's here and there ---- CRAP!!!!! This happens 27.68 mi @ 2hrs 37mins. From there I said...DONE..hahaha, but I tried to pumped some air again. But rear tire can't hold 30psi, only 20psi. No way, those roots - it's not gonna work. Rode back to the tent, that's it! Dee-eeN-eeF!!!! |

I crashed a around mile 2, but kept going. After the first water point loop and just before getting to the same water point again, there was a ditch with water in it. I went into the ditch and then when I came out I could hear a grinding noise towards the front of my bike. I thought at first there was water and grit in the joint where the fork goes into the steering tube. I kept going another 1/8 mile then decided that I needed to locate the noise because it was getting louder. I found a crack on the downtube close to the steering tube. I walked back to the water point and was directed to the fire road. The guy at the fire road, Bill, was kind enough to take me back to the main race area.
